Meta is the latest company to release an AI chatbot that can help you generate text and images. Meta AI is not better than ChatGPT in our opinion.
Let’s find out why.
What can Meta AI do?
Meta actually has a huge AI department and a wide range of AI products. Let’s just discuss the main ones here.
The Meta AI Chatbot/LLama 3
Meta AI is Meta’s answer to ChatGPT. You can ask it to generate any piece of text.
Asking Meta to write a blog post about Meta AI, how meta! (Sorry I had to)
You can also ask Meta AI to create images for you. One of the cool things is that the model updates the image output in real-time as you are writing your prompt. This is a great way to practice how the AI is understanding what you want before you hit enter.
When the image is ready you can also ask it to animate the image into a gif.
Look at this example of “a lion walking down fifth avenue”
These are certainly some cool tools but it really is just at the beginning of its development. I expect them to innovate further and develop tools that we can’t find elsewhere.
AI included in Social Media
Meta has long been using AI as part of their social media to moderate comments, personalize people’s news feeds and for image and video analysis (especially for flagging unwanted content).
But I think the most interesting thing for the user (Yes, that’s you) is going to be the generative AI tools.
It’s still early days for these tools to be integrated into Facebook, WhatsApp, and Instagram but we do know more integration is coming.
For example, you can chat with Meta AI in the private messages section of Facebook like you would with ChatGPT. I also expect Meta to start promoting the search feature more to integrate Meta AI and give AI answers similar to the way Google is doing now with AI overviews.
Searching for information has been dominated by Google for a long time and it seems like people are looking for a different experience and Meta certainly has the platforms with the data to take advantage of this. Watch this space.
Is Meta AI better than ChatGPT
As it stands right now, Meta AI is not better than ChatGPT. ChatGPT has been trained a lot more and quite simply provides better output. The model GPT-4o is very fast and getting more and more accurate every day.
While Meta AI is good at many things, the real benefit will be its integration into other platforms and devices.
AI is changing the way we do everything and I can see people using AI to help them work and communicate more and more. Social Media is a great place for marketing and communicating so we know that AI will be used to create content and to engage with other people.
How can you know if an image on Facebook or Instagram was made with AI?
You might not know this but there are many, many people using AI to create content on Facebook.
Look at this image:
As you can see, it looks like a beautiful house.
But it’s not a real house.
How do I know this?
Well, I used our brand-new AI image-detecting tool.
As you can see, the image detector predicted that the image was created by AI.
What is crazy to me, is how popular these images are. This one has over 500 likes and it seems that nobody understands that this image is not real. I don’t see Facebook having a problem with this as their main goal is engagement and this is certainly engaging. I do think they will have to show an AI disclaimer at some point though.
You can test the AI Image detector here.
Meta AI is Meta’s chatbot that can generate text and images, similar to OpenAI’s ChatGPT. While both can perform similar tasks, Meta AI integrates more deeply with social media platforms like Facebook, WhatsApp, and Instagram. ChatGPT, on the other hand, is known for its extensive training and higher accuracy in text generation.
Meta AI updates the image output in real-time as you write your prompt, allowing you to see how the AI interprets your instructions before finalizing them. This feature helps in refining the prompts to get the desired outcome before hitting enter.
Meta AI is integrated into platforms like Facebook, where users can chat with it in private messages. Future integrations are expected to enhance search features, providing AI-generated answers similar to Google’s AI overviews.
Yes, Meta AI has been designed to understand and generate text in multiple languages, similar to ChatGPT. This makes it versatile for users from different linguistic backgrounds
As of now, Meta AI’s basic functionalities are free to use. However, there may be premium features or services in the future that could incur costs. It’s best to check Meta’s official resources for any updates on pricing.
